FEMA Releases COVID-19 Guidance for the Hurricane Season

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) released the “COVID-19 Pandemic Operational Guidance for the 2020 Hurricane Season.” The document is to help federal, state, local, tribal and territorial (SLTT) officials, emergency managers, and public health officials respond to incidents during the 2020 hurricane season amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The document describes anticipated challenges to disaster operations posed by COVID-19 and describe planning considerations for emergency managers in light of these challenges. It provides information so SLTT emergency managers can prepare and plan accordingly based on FEMA’s operational posture. The document is comprised of two main sections: response planning and recovery planning.

The guidance was written with NOAA and the CDC, and can be found here.
