October 15, 2024

4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

USF St. Petersburg Campus University Student Center Ballroom (140 7th Ave S)

A colorful storm drain cover found in downtown St. Pete.

Over the last few weeks our city experienced record setting rainfall that flooded many parts of our downtown.  As an organization, we wanted to bring in national experts who could help us understand and prepare for future severe weather. Thankfully, we are lucky enough to have some of the world’s leading scientists living in our community working at the USF College of Marine Science.

On October 15th, we will be joined by Dr. Gary Mitchum, USF CMS Associate Dean and Professor of Physical Oceanography, and Dr. Bob Weisberg, USF CMS Research Professor, to discuss these extreme rainfall rainfall events, possible changes in future hurricane projections, high tide flooding, storm surge and wave patterns in Tampa Bay.
